A tour of the main of the important sites of North Ronaldsay.

This is an old Orkney ricking chair which is now sitting the 'Den' part of the Croft. Which lie adjacent to the Heritage Centre.

This jacket is on display in the Heritage Centre once belonged to one of the Horwood ladies of Scar. The Horwoods owned the Westove Estate from the 1870’s until it was sold off in 1919.

This seed fiddle which has been loaned to us was probably used in the 1950’s. It was so named after the fiddle- like action required to distribute the seed.

This image was taken on top of the ruined cairn at Whitemill Point showing part of the wreck the ‘Wanga’ which came ashore in 1939. The stretch of water is the North Ronaldsay Firth with a glimpse of North Ronaldsay on the horizon.

The Black Rock Jetty was built to transport mail and passengers by boat to and from North Ronaldsay. With the onset of the plane it was no longer put to use and is now in a state of disrepair.

This was taken in front of the Brickie Hut, a control room in World War II, for a dummy airfield on the Plain of Fidge. It over looks Cata Sand and onto to the sand dunes.
