    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[In May 1940 German forces advanced into France. As French defences fell, the British focused on rescuing their troops. A major evacuation of more than 330,000 men took place from the French port of Dunkirk between 26 May and 4 June. In order to delay the Germans and allow the rescue to take place, a mixed force, including the Camerons, were ordered to defend a line running from the French town of St. Omer south towards La Bassée. The Battle of St. Omer-La Bassée is thought to have been the last action in which Scottish soldiers wore kilts.]]></dcterms:description>
