Title

Gothic Line

Description

The Gothic Line was a string of German defences across Italy, a little to the north of Florence. It became the focus of German opposition to the Allies during the final stages of the campaign in Italy. Both sides committed vast resources to this area – over 1.2 million men took part in operations around the Gothic Line. The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders played a key role in the capture of San Marino in September 1944.
