Caravat Barp

Caravat Barp is another example of a Long Cairn, 165 overall, with some evidence remaining of a wide horned entrance at the East end. Erskine Beveridge noted that it was greatly dilapidated at this end, since it had been used as a quarry by local residents for the building of the several shielings and enclosures. Originally this must have been a significant landmark, since the narrower west end in Beveridge's time stood to a height of 10 feet.
